The ozonized air flow rate can be calculated by dividing the measured gas flow rate in the box by the effective cross-sectional area of ​​the box perpendicular to the air flow. For comparative tests, the change in flow rate must not exceed ± 10%. The gas flow rate is the volume through which ozonized air passes per unit time. In order to prevent the ozone concentration in the box from being naturally reduced by the dry ozone being consumed by the sample, the gas flow rate should be large enough. The ozone depletion rate varies with the rubber used, the test conditions, and other test details. It is generally recommended that the ratio of the exposed surface area of ​​the sample to the gas flow rate does not exceed 12 s / m, but this value is not always low enough. When in doubt, the impact of consumption must be verified by testing, and the surface area of ​​the sample can be reduced if necessary. The gas entering the test chamber can be mixed with the gas in the chamber with a diffusion membrane or equivalent device. If high-speed flow rate is required, a fan can be placed in the box to increase the ozonated air flow rate to 600 mm / s ± 100 mm / s.
