Color printing with spot colors refers to the use of more than four color printing processes. Companies such as Pantone and many digital printers have a keen interest in high-end commercial printing and packaging printing. In these fields, four or more color printing forms have a very strong market. Most people in the industry are optimistic about Pantone's six-color printing method (adding orange and light green to the four primary colors). In 1995, Pantone announced that their six-color system can be proofed and that there is a software that can perform a six-color separation process. During this period, Visu Technologies' ICISS and MC-P/CoCo programs running in photoshop can process the colors and see the final results on the screen. In this way, users do not have to proof again and again to see the final changes. In the fall of 1997, Pantone introduced HexWrench software, which is a tool for performing six-color separations and previewing color separation results. It comes in the form of a plug-in to the Adobe Photoshop software that creates a six-channel DCS2.0 file for export to applications like QuarkXPress. CMYK's various primary colors use standard screen angles, while the six colors in orange and bright green use Qinghe's screen angle respectively. According to users of six-color printing, users can use HexWrench software to process colors in RGB mode, and then convert the colors in RGB mode to six-color mode. In this process, almost all colors of the RGB color gamut can be maintained. When using the four-color mode, 25% or more of the RGB color will be lost during the conversion from RGB to CMYK modes. The biggest problem with high-fidelity printing is proofing. In fact, many six-color printing companies do proofing on printing presses. It is said that the proofing on the printing press may take two hours or less compared to the half-hour time for the digital proofer to output six color proofs. Some companies use hybrid matching proofing or Cromarting proofing to reflect the color of six-color printing. In order to enrich the colors other than black, some companies use the two-pass proof format when proofing six-color effects. The CMYK signal is output to the printer for the first time, and the CMY signal is output to the same sheet on the printer a second time. The problem of entering the six-color printing field still exists in proofing. People should not only consider the outcome of the process, they should also consider the beginning process. They must be able to decide whether a job can benefit from high fidelity printing. In HexWrench software screen preview, there is no real use of high-fidelity inkjet printers. Therefore, for high-fidelity printing proofing, it can only be a simulation process. However, the true six-color print is very popular. For example, some companies use six-color printing to print the cover of textbooks to attract teen-age consumer markets. Moreover, according to the printing staff, because the dependence of some colors on the primary colors is reduced, the persuasion process in the printing process is smaller and the color balance process is smoother. The purity of color has also been significantly improved. For a printing company, how or whether to use six-color printing depends on business considerations. And, at present, more than four-color printing forms are not limited to six-color printing, and have been expanded to seven colors or eight colors. Some printing companies believe that most customers will not consider the printing effect from the perspective of printing limitations. If they can see the hard-to-replicate spot colors they need, they will be drawn back again and again. High-fidelity printing has a very broad future in the printing industry.
