Aluminum foil printing

The common names of gold foil and silver plate paper are advanced high-grade packaging materials developed in recent years. This paper has a bright color, strong metallic sensibility, and elegant and bright prints. It has played a role of icing on the beautification of goods. Now it has been used in printing a variety of trademarks and foods, especially tobacco and wine packaging. The paper played a great role in promoting the protection of goods, beautifying the goods, and increasing the competitiveness of the goods in the market.

Aluminum foil is a non-absorbent paper that requires a relatively high printing requirement. The printing methods currently used in China include gravure printing, offset printing and flexo printing. Because offset printing has the advantages of fast product turnaround and low price for plate making, offset foil printing is often used for printing aluminum foil.

Since aluminum foil is a non-absorbent paper, impermeable inks, i.e., oxide conjunctiva dry inks or ultraviolet drying inks are generally used. However, the use of this type of ink is limited due to the relatively high price of the UV-dried ink, the short storage period, and the need for a UV drying device for the printing press.

Synthetic paper inks are oxidized conjunctiva dry inks. The ink printed on the paper with offset printing is actually an aqueous ink that has been emulsified. Moisture directly interferes with the oxidative polymerization of the ink molecules. Only when the moisture in the ink evaporates does the print really dry. Therefore, reducing the degree of emulsification of ink is the key to ink drying. Since ethanol is a volatile solvent, using an ethanol fountain solution, the drying speed of the synthetic paper ink is fast, and the fountain solution is easily spread on the plate, so that the amount of water can be reduced and the degree of emulsification of the ink can be reduced from the surface. Therefore, the ethanol fountain solution should be used when printing synthetic paper inks.
