Linear Image Barcode Scanning Technology
The linear image bar code scanning technology is a new generation of bar code reading technology developed by the United States HHP company based on the CCD technology in the late 1990s. Its representative products are IT3800 series, IT-4600/4800 (two-dimensional bar code scanner) Series, IT-5600/5800 series barcode reader. From the perspective of optical technology, it mainly has two major innovations:
1. Focusing on the light source, through its unique and patented light path design, the light concentrated by the two focusing prisms forms a concentrated, bright light on the surface of the bar code, whose brightness exceeds that of the laser;
2. Compared with 2048 CCD light-sensing units used in general CCD readers, it uses 3,648 special long-type light-sensing elements, which has greatly improved the bar code recognition performance, especially in the print quality is not high When it comes to barcodes it has a clear advantage over CCDs or laser readers.
Why choose a linear image barcode reader?
Better reading
HHP's IT3800 uses a high-resolution linear image reader, based on advanced optical principles. It has advantages over CCDs or laser readers in reading defaced bar codes. Taking a laser reader as an example, the scan line is actually formed by moving a light spot back and forth. When the light spot encounters a small stain or defect, it is mistaken for a strip or empty. Either the reader spends a lot of time correcting it with advanced algorithms, or it can't read it at all. The linear image reader captures the entire bar code, ignoring the defaced part and decoding it quickly.
Stronger light interference resistance
In situations where the ambient light is intense, such as full sunlight, it is difficult or impossible to see the scan line using a CCD and a laser reader, and it is rarely possible to read the bar code. The IT3800 can read as well from full darkness to full sunlight.
Read faster
The IT3800 scanner scans and decodes at 270 times per second, which is more than five times that of most CCDs and laser readers.
More durable
Inside the laser bar code reader there is a moving part - a reflection lens oscillates back and forth to move the laser spot back and forth. When a shock (such as a drop) is encountered, the lens is easily displaced and the optical system is misaligned, resulting in difficulty in reading or even inability to work. Traditional CCDs and laser readers use a glass lens to reflect light into the interior of the reader. When a shock is encountered, the lens breaks easily. Many of today's laser gun housings, mainboards, etc. designed for commercial retail applications are usually snap-fastened. Of course, snaps are not as strong as steel screws, which is why they do not resist falling. The linear image bar code reader IT3800 does not have any movable parts inside. Its main board and housing are fixed by three steel screws, and it has extremely high resistance to drop test (25 times from 1.5 meters on concrete floor). Since its inception, the IT3800 has been astounding to the industry for its rugged features and 3-year domestic warranty.
Reading distance is comparable to standard laser readers
In general, the biggest advantage of laser bar code readers is the reading distance. However, with the continuous development of linear image technology, this concept has changed. HHP's IT5800 has broken through the limitations of the original, in terms of scanning distance and laser equipment is almost equivalent.
