Review and Thoughts on the Development of Paper Equipment Manufacturing Industry

Source: Papermaking Information

At the relevant meeting of papermaking equipment, Hu Nan, honorary chairman of China Light Industry Enterprise Investment and Development Association, made the first sentence: I am a "veteran" in the paper equipment manufacturing industry. Indeed, after graduating from Hu Nan University, he was assigned to Tianjin Yangliuqing Light Machine Factory, which produces pulping equipment in papermaking equipment. After 8 years of work, from a variety of machine tool operators to machine tool repair workers, with a level of "artisan", fell in love with this industry. Since the beginning of 1963, for a full 22 years, Tianjin Yangliuqing Light Machine Factory has grown from a repairing factory of about 300 people to a backbone factory with more than 2,000 people mainly producing pulping equipment. Hu Nan has learned a lot of knowledge and accumulated practical experience and lessons. . In early 1985, he was transferred to the Light Machinery Corporation and in 1988 he was transferred to the Technical Equipment Department of the Ministry of Light Industry.

After retiring in 1999, he concentrated on the study and research in the technical and economic aspects of the manufacturing industry, especially the paper-making equipment manufacturing industry, and unintentionally followed the needs of the development of the industry. Formed a “virtual volunteer team” to provide consulting and training services for paper equipment enterprises.

Hu Nan witnessed the development history of the paper-making equipment manufacturing industry, which is the history of reform and opening-up innovation under the leadership of the party, from institutional innovation to technological innovation, and became the "great Chinese industrial revolution" (quoted from "The Great China Industrial Revolution" The book, published in Tsinghua University Press in June 2016, is a typical case of miracles. However, it does not belong to the high-tech industries supported by the state, and is not affiliated with the monopolistic “central enterprises”, but is a typical case in the vast majority of market-oriented small and medium-sized industries.

Due to space limitations, it is impossible to summarize and analyze through stages and processes. Only a few innovations since the 12th Five-Year Plan can be used to confirm a memorable case in the great miracle of the industrial revolution of the 40th anniversary of reform and opening up. 40 years ago, the main backbone enterprises in the paper equipment industry were Shanghai, Liaoyang, Xi'an three major paper machine factories and Tianjin light machine factory that produces pulping equipment. These are state-owned enterprises. At that time, the highest level of paper machine was the 3150 model with a speed of 300 m/min, while the Tianjin Light Machine Factory mainly produced steamed balls (which had already been eliminated in developed countries). By the mid-1980s, Vice Minister Wang Wenzhe instructed the development of the 1760 300 m/min paper machine, while the Tianjin Light Machine Factory was still producing steamed balls. The steaming ball was the first choice for a large number of township papermaking enterprises, but it greatly polluted the environment.

However, the good situation of reform and opening up is unexpected. At the beginning of the 21st century, on the one hand, the media made false reports and speculations on “world factories” and “Made in China”. The hot spots in the development zones and the high-tech parks showed impetuousness and blindness, but on the other hand, the authorities He pointed out: "This kind of situation is everywhere in the country. It is time to knock on the alarm and splash a little cold water." At this time, with the representative of "China's Positioning in the World's Manufacturing Industry", it poured a large bucket of cold water on everyone! Hu Nan, as a mechanical engineering engineer, has more practice, from concept to mechanical materialism. The logical reasoning advantage was written in response to an article entitled "How China's Manufacturing Industry Positions". The article pointed out that the article "China's Positioning in the World's Manufacturing Industry" appeared in the logical inference of academic research and did not rigorously arbitrarily, so the alarm did not completely knock on the idea. Refuted the article that “only the United Kingdom has the conditions to become a factory in the world” “Only the United States has the conditions to become the world’s manufacturing center”, and there is another extreme view of the academic world that is “disputed” – China will become a “wage earner” The gathering place..." Hu Nan predicted that China will move from "world factory" to "one of the world manufacturing centers" in the near future.

How should innovation achievements be compared and evaluated? The performance level of equipment in the early and middle stages is in the process of climbing from a very low starting point. Compared with the international advanced level, there is a big gap. Therefore, it can only be used in the “Twelfth Five-Year Plan” period. Innovation results to compare and evaluate. The following is briefly evaluated in three aspects.

First, the industrial R&D and manufacturing system was gradually established, and the innovation results were remarkable.

After the development of the "Twelfth Five-Year Plan" period, China's paper-making equipment manufacturing industry has basically formed a relatively complete production service system from personnel training, research and development, design and manufacturing, quality control, standard testing, installation and commissioning to turnkey project contracting.

What should be pointed out in particular is the continuous exploration of the technological innovation model, and new breakthroughs have emerged: represented by Shandong Quanlin Paper and Jianghe Paper, and the technical equipment for the pulp and paper enterprises to serve the paper industry, Wenrui Machinery as a giant pulp The subsidiaries of the paper companies have also achieved vertical integration, which has greatly reduced the transaction costs of research and development.

During the “Twelfth Five-Year Plan” period, the pulp and paper equipment industry has developed a number of independent innovations that meet or are close to the international advanced level. The representative results are (in the order of the pulp and paper process): Zhengzhou Yunda, Fujian Light Machine The waste paper processing equipment technology developed by Shandong Jiefeng and Zhengzhou Leizhan has reached the international advanced level from the complete technical equipment of disintegration and sorting, screening and grading, sputum and heat dispersion to the deinking system.

Shandong Quanlin Paper has developed the world's first 100,000 t/a straw pulp continuous cooking production line, which has been operating stably for more than 3 years and has been identified as an international leading level.

The SJA2272 and SJA2284 displacement press twin-roller extruders developed by Wenrui Machinery have a designed production capacity (air drying) of 4000 - 4500 t/d, which has been certified to meet international standards in terms of performance specifications, operational reliability, energy consumption and efficiency. Advanced level.

Jianghe Paper and Dazhi Paper and other units developed a modern cultural paper machine with a width of 5.6 m and a running speed of 1200 ——1500 m/min. It was approved on November 8, 2014, and the main technical indicators reached the international advanced level of similar equipment. The realization of the breakthrough of the domestic high-speed paper machine zero, has a milestone significance. In August 2017, Dazhi Paper took on the turnkey project of the 1# paper machine of Russia Color 纸 纸 paper mill: all equipment and parts, 52 containers arrived safely on Russian colored plaque paper by “Eurasian train” plant. This is not only the first case for China's paper-making equipment industry to undertake the turnkey project for comprehensive upgrading and transformation of foreign countries, but also the Russian side called “the only large-scale project in the history of Russian paper industry without European participation”.

The 1200 m/min tissue paper machine independently developed by Kaixin Machinery has been exported to the UK for more than 3 years and has been well received by users, creating a precedent for the export of papermaking mainframes to developed countries. The sales performance of Kaixin tissue machine has reached more than 100 units, and the 1600 m/min tissue paper machine has become the main product.

Shandong Xinhe Paper Engineering Co., Ltd. recently opened the third 2850/1600 tissue machine of DaYi Paper, which has great innovation. What Hu Nan is most interested in is “mathematical modeling and simulation” and “big data management of paper machine operation”. The first to start.

Zhejiang Huazhang has been authorized to invent more than 40 invention patents and applied to the control system of papermaking equipment and factory management. It has been recognized by customers and can compete with the world multinational companies such as Siemens and ABB, and its international competitiveness has been significantly improved. In 2018, Siemens and Huazhang signed a strategic cooperation agreement, which not only exerted the hardware advantages of Siemens, but also played the role of Huazhang Technology in research and development and talents to achieve win-win cooperation. For the supporting core parts and roller products, Xi'an Maxtor, Zhejiang Yihe and Shengxiang can supply Voith and Valmet, reaching or close to the international advanced level.

In 2018, coincided with the 40th anniversary of reform and opening up, Hu Nan participated in the appraisal meeting of three innovation achievements. One overall technology reached the international leading level, and the two overall technologies were at the international advanced level, which made Hu Nan excited.

“Key technology development of large-scale chlorine dioxide preparation system and its application in pulp clean bleaching” completed by Guangxi University, Guangxi Bosch Environmental Protection Technology Co., Ltd. and Beijing Forestry University. The project is at the international leading level: (1) Invented a new set of new process technologies based on reduction method and comprehensive method. Its advanced nature exceeds the core technology of ECF which has been monopolized abroad, and 56 patents have been obtained, including the United States and Canada. He has 6 foreign invention patents and 21 Chinese invention patents. (2) It has very significant economic benefits. The new sales in 2015-2017 are 22.6 billion yuan and the profit is 3.3 billion. In one fell swoop, China has changed from an importing country to an exporting country. (3) Breaking the monopoly of technology and replacing it with new technology has become a milestone in the history of the development of chlorine dioxide preparation industry in China.

The "4575/1000 Super Calender" completed by Zibo Taiding Machinery Technology Co., Ltd. and Xianhe Co., Ltd. The project is at the international advanced level: (1) It embodies the latest technology related to super calenders, and has obtained 19 patents, including 7 invention patents, forming a series of products, which have completely replaced imports. (2) From 2015 to 2017, the company added 383 million new sales and increased profits by 57.47 million. (3) The total labor productivity of 2015-2017 is 290, 310, and 3.4 million/a, which is three times the average value of the paper-making equipment industry, and exceeds the corresponding values of Valmet, Voith, and ANDRITZ.

"High-speed centrifugal turbine vacuum pump" completed by Anshan Steel Peak Fan Co., Ltd. The project is at the international advanced level: (1) The project has developed closed three impellers, three space twisted regenerators, balance discs and tilting pad bearings, and uses high-efficiency steam separators, armored integrated bases, heat recovery systems, etc. Advanced technology, designed and manufactured high-speed centrifugal turbine vacuum pump products have the advantages of high efficiency, wide area of high efficiency, low noise, low vibration and stable operation. (2) The product has been tested by professional institutions on the spot, the efficiency is over 85%, compared with the water ring vacuum pump (it is reported that this is the most commonly used pump in Finland, 10 years ago), saving nearly 40% of electricity, creating for the paper industry. The economic and environmental benefits can be imagined!

When visiting a technology-based SME, Binzhou Dongrui Machinery Co., Ltd. in Shandong in 2018, the company left Hu Nan with the impression of “specialized and special”, a bit like a German SME. The products are of high quality, high environment and clean, comprehensively realize the standardization and modernization of production management; the R&D investment is large and the level is high. The total number of design and research personnel of 50 employees is 23; with Qilu University of Technology, Jiangsu University, Ilmenau, Germany Collaboration with industrial universities to enhance design and research and development capabilities. The company has an annual design and manufacturing capacity of 500,000 tons of pulp and paper process pumps; it has the design and manufacturing capacity of high-power high-speed motor direct drive turbo vacuum pump (10000 r/min, 500 kW or more), which is an international leading level. I am looking forward to the development of this more advanced (more energy efficient) turbo vacuum pump and its application in paper mills. Hu Nan

Second, the scale of complete sets of equipment has been expanded and reliability has improved.

The complete set of equipment and reliability is the embodiment of the comprehensive strength of an industry. During the "Twelfth Five-Year Plan" period, China's pulp and paper domestically produced complete sets of equipment have significantly improved their scale capability on the basis of greater reliability. Such as 20 - 300,000 t / a waste paper processing equipment; 10 - 150,000 t / a waste paper deinking equipment; 10 - 300,000 t / a non-wood fiber raw material pulp production line; 150,000 t/a bleached sulphate bamboo pulp production line; 300,000 t/a packaging paperboard production line; 200,000 t/a tissue paper production line; 20,000 t/a tissue paper production line.

Third, the internationalization began, and “going out” steadily advanced.

Because China's pulp and paper equipment has excellent cost performance, it has highlighted its good competitiveness in international competition. In recent years, exports have grown at a rate of about 20% per year. From January to June 2015, the export value reached 576 million US dollars, a year-on-year increase of 27.12%. Only Wenrui Machinery Co., Ltd., the export delivery value in 2014 has reached 328 million, and it is expected to exceed 400 million in 2015. Export products have been exported from small single equipment to complete sets of equipment, ranging from large-scale complete sets of equipment for international large groups to large-scale equipment, such as medium-sized paper machines. “Chinese technology” and “Made in China” are increasingly favored by foreign paper companies. In terms of international layout, Kaixin Machinery and Wenrui Machinery are at the forefront of the industry. Kaixin Machinery has established a research and development center in Europe, and Wenrui Machinery has offices in several countries.

In general, during the “Twelfth Five-Year Plan” period, the paper-making equipment manufacturing industry realized two transformations on the basis of the original: from imitative learning and absorption to integrated innovation-based independent research and development; the overall technical level is low-low. The level of technology has shifted to a medium and high level of technology.

While seeing the results, we should pay more attention to the gap between us and the international advanced level and international multinational companies.

From the perspective of market structure, China's market concentration and product differentiation are quite different from those of the global high-end paper equipment market. The latter has already formed an oligopolistic market structure, and we expect to form a “pyramid” market structure. There is still a long way to go before the few companies on the “tower” enter the oligopolistic market structure of high-end papermaking equipment.

From the perspective of technological innovation, due to the lack of core technologies and the lag of basic research, the gap between the reliability and advancement of Chinese products is well known. It is worth noting that the use of intelligent means to create value for users in the aspects of product manufacturing and operation optimization, control and failure prediction has not yet begun.

Since the end of the "Twelfth Five-Year Plan", China's paper industry has entered a new normal of deep adjustment and transformation and upgrading. Many papermaking enterprises have encountered unprecedented difficulties. As a paper-making equipment industry, they also encounter low-price competition, profitable beaches, and increased revenue. Difficulties and other issues, facing the severe test of sustainable innovation and development.

The industrial restructuring of the paper industry and the transformation and upgrading of enterprises will continue for a long time, the investment in new construction will be reduced, and new construction projects will be significantly reduced. However, the pace of technological transformation of papermaking enterprises will accelerate, and the elimination of backward production capacity will accelerate. In the future, more energy-efficient, efficient and environmentally-friendly equipment will be needed. The competitive advantages of medium-cost equipment with high cost performance and good service will be more reflected. Market space will be compressed, and domestic equipment will usher in new development opportunities.

On the basis of earnestly studying and thinking deeply about "Made in China 2025", based on the two deep integration of new generation information technology and papermaking equipment technology, papermaking and equipment (industry and enterprises), combined with the status quo of papermaking equipment industry, Characteristics and development trends, implementation of the "three-oriented" strategy: intelligent, green and structural (technical structure, market structure) optimization, in order to adapt to the structural adjustment and upgrading of China's paper industry, in the creation of value for the paper-making enterprises, common Realize the dream of manufacturing a strong country.
