[Outdoor Sports] How to correctly extend battery life?

Donkeys' outdoor will not lack important equipment such as mobile phones, tablets, cameras, glare flashlights and so on. However, the most frustrating thing for donkey friends is that playing aerial photography and watching movies are on the rise, and suddenly there is no electricity! In the wild, how to extend the life of rechargeable batteries?

Nowadays, with the continuous development of science and technology, our daily life is full of smartphones, tablets, cameras and other devices. For outdoor enthusiasts, we all hope to return to nature in the process of travel.

However, mobile phones, flashlights and other equipment are also indispensable. This brings a problem that cannot be ignored-how to extend the service life of rechargeable batteries.

Temperature characteristics: Because the migration rate of the rechargeable battery in the electrolyte body and the electrode sheet is closely related to the temperature, the fluctuation of the temperature will significantly affect the technical performance of the rechargeable battery.

Storage temperature: In general, the battery has liquid inside, and long-term storage at low temperature will damage the battery's internal chemical substances, so it is recommended that the storage temperature should not be lower than -20 ℃ under conditions; The battery can not reach its rated capacity, the general storage temperature should not be higher than 40 ℃.

The normal storage temperature of a rechargeable battery is -20 ° C to + 65 ° C. When the temperature drops below -20 ° C, the electrolyte in the battery will solidify, the internal resistance of the battery will become infinite, and the battery will be unusable.

When the temperature exceeds + 65 ° C, the electrolyte will undergo side reactions and generate a large amount of gas, and the resin adhesive in the electrode sheet will also deteriorate, resulting in the gradual aging and decay of the entire battery, even in the short term.

Charging temperature: In general, the charging temperature is between 0 ° C and 45 ° C.

Discharge temperature: under normal circumstances, the discharge temperature is -20 ℃ ~ 65 ℃; but in some special cases, low temperature batteries and high temperature batteries can be used. The battery pack is generally discharged before leaving the factory to prevent short circuit due to vibration or other reasons during transportation. Usually, the new battery is not charged or only contains about 20% of the electricity.

New batteries or batteries that have not been used for a long time may not be fully activated due to active substances. Generally, two or three cycles of small current (0.1C) charge and discharge treatment are required before use to reach the nominal capacity. Long-term unused batteries should be stored in a state of charge. Generally, they can be precharged with 50% ~ 100% of the electricity and stored. It is recommended to charge the battery once every three months to restore the saturation capacity.

Notes on battery use:

1. Do not incinerate or disassemble the battery. The chemicals in it are corrosive, which can damage the skin and eyes.

2. Do not pull the lead or plug of the battery to prevent damage to the solder joints and connection parts.

3. Different types of batteries cannot be mixed.

4. Welding on different types of batteries, you need to use welding tabs and so on.

5. Fully charge with a small current before the first use.

6. Do not charge in parallel, otherwise it will produce irregular charging current.

7. Do not use the battery in reverse or short circuit it.

8. After the battery is fully discharged, the charging time should be extended to reach the saturated capacity.

9. Please store the battery in a cool, ventilated and dry environment with a temperature not higher than 45 ℃.

10. When the battery is fully charged or half full, do not store a large number of batteries intensively.

11. Do not contact with acid gas and avoid being close to fire source.

Finally, as far as primary batteries and secondary batteries are concerned, the former mainly refers to batteries that cannot be charged and can only be discharged, but the primary battery capacity is generally larger than rechargeable batteries of the same specifications, such as zinc manganese, alkaline dry batteries, lithium button batteries, and lithium Batteries, etc.

The latter refers to batteries that can be repeatedly charged and recycled, such as lead-acid, nickel-cadmium, nickel-metal hydride, lithium ion, lithium polymer, fuel, zinc, aluminum, and magnesium-air batteries. Outdoor enthusiasts must distinguish between concepts before they can properly use rechargeable batteries.
