Soft RIP output issues

RIP is usually divided into hardware RIP (soft RIP) and software RIP (soft RIP). There are also RIPs that combine software and hardware. Hard RIP is actually a dedicated computer used to interpret page information; soft RIP is used to perform page calculations through software, and the good record information is transmitted to the imagesetter through a specific interface card, so the soft RIP is installed at a On the computer. As computer computing speeds continue to increase, RIP's interpretation algorithms and screening algorithms continue to improve, so the speed of interpretation of soft RIP can compete with hard RIP, even more than hard RIP, plus soft RIP upgrade is easy, has been more users welcome.

At present, there are many types of soft RIPs in use in the country. Common RIPs are RIP, Raspberry RIP from Saige Angel, Taipan RIP from Agfa, Dyna RIP from WACKER, Delta RIP from Linotype, metaDimension RIP from Heidelberg, and Kmscript RIP from Goodall. And Harlequin RIP (HQ).

Through prepress practice and feedback from users, the author summarizes the problems that may arise during the soft RIP output (mainly for Founder Century RIP, Saiyan's Brisque RIP, and Heidelberg's metaDimension RIP) and hopes to have friends who work in prepress work. Little help.

1.The shapes in the Illustrator stroke are saved in the EPS format after the custom imprint is defined. If user-defined imprinting is selected when the RIP is used, the imprint after the RIP does not work.

2. The user-defined embossing in the RIP RIP and the two options in the black version are not allowed to work at the same time. It is recommended to set all the imprint settings that may be used in the file in advance.

3. Large-area gradation or gradient color darker layout, as much as possible with the Founder RIP or metaDimension RIP output, Brisque RIP in the range of 70% to 100% of the network prone to ladder.

4. Light-colored layouts, such as C10% and Y30%, are likely to have large meshes (rapples) after output with the Brisque RIP, and better results with the use of the Founder RIP or metaDimension RIP.

5. Live jobs that use metaDimension RIP output sometimes have the same network cable angle, and most of them occur on multiple page PageMaker files or when the file is impositioned. Therefore, the metaDimension can be upgraded to a version above 2.6.004 during installation to avoid similar issues.

6. CorelDraw file output with metaDimension RIP, often appear white lines, graphics can be saved in CorelDraw as a bitmap (should carefully check the film) or use the Founder RIP and Brisque RIP output.

7. PDF files If you have text other than Chinese and English, it is recommended to select the color separation PS output. Directly outputting texts other than Chinese and English in PDF files can result in missing characters, so PDFs are best used with metaDimension RIP and Brisque RIP output.

8. When using metaDimension RIP and Brisque RIP output, spot colors do not use the Chinese file name, otherwise sometimes spot colors will not be exposed.

9. When the Illustrator file contains dot gradients, do not use the Brisque RIP output, otherwise there will be discoloration and it is not easy to detect. For example, the red gradient will lose the yellow net, but it is difficult to see in the prediction. The best solution is to use the Founder RIP output, but if the flat screen is too complex it will have partial discoloration and color loss.

10. Some customers will make the file very large, and using different RIP output will be very different. PS2 will be faster than PS3, Founder will be faster than Brisque, in addition, PSM is also a good choice. PSM has great advantages when it comes to interpreting vector files (only applicable to EPS files).

11.Illustrator file, if there are gradient bars pressed on other color blocks, and the gradient bar is selected overprint option, it should be color printing; such as when saved as EPS or composite printing, you should use PSM, Founder RIP, or Brisque RIP, PS2 mode should be used when using Brisque RIP.

12. In CorelDraw, the outline property in the graphic properties should not be selected as "scale according to the image" (called "contour with image scaling" in CorelDraw 9.0). Otherwise, the phenomenon of outline deformation occurs when interpreted on the Brisque RIP.

13.Brisque will reduce the accuracy of the graph when interpreting high-accuracy grayscale images. The solution is to increase the ct accuracy or use the Founder RIP or metaDimension RIP instead.
