Hainan increases its efforts to "treat white"

A few days ago, when a special inspection team of the Haikou Municipal Environmental Protection Bureau and the Municipal Health Bureau conducted a special inspection on the third industry, the reporter found that most hotels and restaurants are still using disposable foam plastic lunch boxes. In this regard, the person in charge of the relevant departments of the city expressly stated that it is necessary to further intensify the investigation and punishment, leaving no "white pollution" corner.
It is understood that since 1999, Hainan Province has started mass production and sales of biodegradable plastic products. In 2000, it also provided for manufacturers to recycle used disposable foam plastic tableware and print recycling marks on the dishes. Haikou City promises that the recovery rate must reach 40%.
However, due to factors such as price, some catering operators in Haikou still disregard relevant regulations and use disposable foam plastic tableware. Some restaurant owners say that foamed plastic tableware is a few cents cheaper than each of the degradables, and the cost of using it is much lower.
To this end, the Joint Inspection Unit pointed out that hotels and restaurants must cooperate with and support relevant departments in accordance with the law. If they use disposable foam tableware, they will be punished. In an interview with reporters, Zhou Jinghan, head of the Haikou City Environmental Protection Bureau, said that the Haikou City Environmental Protection Agency had explicitly stated in its statement of responsibility for work objectives signed with the city government earlier this year that it was necessary to expedite the elimination of “white pollution” and confirm that it would be with the city during the year. All relevant departments carried out eight joint law enforcement actions to ensure that the work achieved significant results. The environmental protection department must be legally administrated to eliminate "white pollution" completely.
It is reported that following Haikou’s implementation of special operations, most counties and cities in Qiongdao have also begun to take active measures to “treat white”.
