Reimotec Claims New Technologies for Direct PET/Nylon Bottle Recycling

Reimotec, a German manufacturer of plastic monofilament and packaging tape extrusion equipment, claims that the company invented the recycling of PET/Nylon bottles into packaging tape technology without the use of a compatibilizer. Previously, the German plastics processing plant had to add compatibilizers to recover PET/Nylon bottles.

According to the person in charge of the company's operations, the new technology lies in the fact that twin-screw extruders can highly disperse nylon into fine particles. Because Germany increasingly uses PET bottles for packaging beer and implements a plastic bottle deposit system, PET/Nylon bottle recycling volumes have increased significantly. Prior to the implementation of the mandatory deposit system, most of the PET bottles recovered in Germany were exported to China. This technology provides strong technical support for the deposit system of German plastic beer bottles.
