The TDR soil profile moisture meter is mainly composed of HD2 handheld reading meter and TRIME-PICO-IPH2 tube probe. It has many advantages such as simple operation, accurate measurement and convenient movement.
The working principle is as follows:
TRIME (Time Domain Reflectometry with Smart Micro Devices) is based on TDR technology (Time Domain Reflectometry) and was developed to measure the dielectric constant of materials. The metal plate on the transmitter is used as a waveguide for transmitting TDR signals. The TRIME-device generates a high-frequency pulse (up to 1 GHz), which is guided along the wave and generates an electromagnetic field around the TRIME-detector. At the end of the waveguide, the pulse is reflected back to its source. The resulting transmission time (10 ps. 2 ns) and dielectric constant depend on the moisture content of the material. IMKO has developed a patented measurement method. With this technology, it is possible to measure the transmission time and material moisture content with a resolution of 3 picoseconds!
