For a long time, people always have a prejudice against this process. They think that anyone who can bind can do it, and ignore the importance of it. Avoid improper selection
There are a lot of books on the cover material that do not take into account the processing difficulties and effects, resulting in various quality problems. In order to improve the book binding effect, the thickness of the cover of many books is very different from the thickness (or weight) of the book block paper, causing the tension between the two to be different. When the cover is made by the wireless binding, the first page of the book core is opened to expose the rubber sole or Sample pages, resulting in non-conforming products. This kind of product can solve the problem of leaking rubber bottom by adding a gram of thick lining or lining page between the cover and the first page of the book block. However, many publishers do not intend to reduce the cost, nor do they plan to reduce the cost. Consider the processing effect.
As the thickness of the cover is getting larger and larger, more than 200 grams of paper or paper is designed with a folding front process. When the indentation breaks, the crease breaks and leaks, which destroys the appearance quality of the book. In fact, the cover of 200 grams or more must be folded at the front, which makes the binding of books very difficult and cannot guarantee the quality.
In addition, the length of the cover is shorter than the length of the book block and can also cause dirty books. When the book is bound, most of the cover length is about 7 mm shorter than the length of the book block. As a result, when the glue is glued, the back of the book is short, which causes the back of the book to be exposed, and some leaky and dirty books appear. This phenomenon can be completely avoided if the size of the edging of the head and the feet is left in the cover design.
Reasonable design
The design pattern leaves no room for further processing. Some American editors did not consider the difficulties in binding processing when designing the cover of the pattern and the frame. They did not understand the quality standards of the binding, and deliberately pursued the appearance of beauty. As a result, the binding was far less than expected.
For example, if a processing unit receives a paperback book from a publishing house with a thickness of 12 mm, the back of the cover design is divided into all white with black characters, and the first and fourth versions are black and white, requiring the processing factory to process. The cover should not be exposed, and the back of the book should not be black. According to the provisions of Articles 3, 4 and 5 of the National "Binding Quality Requirements and Inspection Methods - Paperback": the translation error of the book back word is based on the center line of the book back, and the finished book with a book back thickness of 10 mm or less, the book back word translation tolerance is ≤1.0 mm; in the finished book with a book back thickness greater than 20 mm and less than or equal to 30 mm, the book back word translation tolerance is 2.5 mm; in the finished book with a book back word thickness of 30 mm or more, the book back word translation tolerance is 3.0 mm. The tolerance of the back of the book is 0.5 mm smaller than the tolerance of the back of the book. So how can this black and white design meet the demanding requirements of the processor and achieve the desired effect?
Therefore, the publisher must communicate with the binding processing unit and communicate frequently. After fully understanding the overall link of the book printing, determine the appropriate and reasonable design plan, so that the printed books can be more solid and beautiful.
