Ulysse Nardin (Athens Table) UN-118 movement appreciation

Ulysse

Movement UN-118 According to Athens's first self-developed Sonata watch movement UN-66/67 and the annual movement UN-160 pace, in the movement of technology innovation a big step forward.

Movement UN-118's escapement by the Athens watch factory and Switzerland Sigatec company R & D results.

DIAMonSIL, a revolutionary alliance between silicon and synthetic diamond, is a very lightweight but hard material that reduces friction and eliminates the need to add grease to the escapement - it's definitely the watchmaker's holy grail.

Sigatec is the only company in the world capable of producing high-precision parts from silicon and DiamonSil, which holds a nanotechnology that will take years to develop.

The UN-118 will be the first member of the home-grown R & D movement series, featuring a patented DIAMonSIL escapement, a home-made oscillator tuned to four screws and a 1.1.1 hairspring. The oscillator was patented in 2007 and was first introduced in March 2008 for use in the limited Sonata silicon crystal wristwatch.

"The Athens watch's strategy of developing self-made movement technology allows us to control its quality." Rover, chairman and chief executive of the Athens Table, Mr. Schneider said: "Athena Table is committed to innovation, to promote the industry to move forward, but also make mechanical watches for future generations as a heirloom."

The UN-118 movement also features a 60-hour power reserve and calendar display for instant forward and backward adjustments.
